-Testing Your Assumptions
Reading: John 7:40-43; Micah 5:2; Romans 10:9-13
The crowds rejected Jesus because they assumed they already knew the full story. They knew the scriptures about Bethlehem, yet they missed the one standing right in front of them who had been born there. Assumptions rooted in tradition, culture, or personal prejudice can blind even the most religiously informed person to the reality of Christ. The invitation of the gospel remains wide open -- to every tribe, tongue, people, and nation.
Do not let what you assume you already know keep you from drinking. Test every assumption against the word of God. The rock has been struck. The water flows freely. Come and drink.
