-The Thirst Within

Reading: John 7:37-38; Jeremiah 2:13

Every person carries a thirst that the world cannot satisfy. Jeremiah warned God's people that they had abandoned the fountain of living water and dug broken cisterns for themselves -- containers that hold nothing. Career, reputation, comfort, and religion have all been tried. All have failed. Jesus does not stand at a distance and offer instructions on how to manage your thirst. He stands and cries out, inviting the thirsty to come directly to him. The diagnosis is honest: you are thirsty. The remedy is personal: come to me.

Examine what you have been drinking from this week.
Is it holding water?
