-The Glory of the Cross
Reading: Romans 5:6-11; John 19:28-30; Romans 8:32
Devotional: What the world saw as defeat, God had decreed as the supreme revelation of his glory. The cross was not a tragedy interrupted by resurrection. It was the planned intersection of perfect justice and perfect mercy. When Jesus cried out that it is finished, he was declaring that the debt of sin had been fully paid and divine justice had been completely satisfied. The Father did not spare his own Son but delivered him over for us all. What man meant for evil, God had sovereignly ordained for redemption. Rest today in the finished work of the one who bore your sins completely.
Reflection: Do you live as though the work of Christ is truly finished, or do you carry guilt he has already paid for?
