-The Unity of Scripture and the One Way of Salvation
Reading: Galatians 3:6-9, 26-29; Hebrews 11:8-16
Abraham was not saved by circumcision. He was not saved by keeping the law. He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, as Paul declares in Galatians 3. The Old Testament and the New Testament are not two separate stories with two separate plans of salvation. They are one unified story, one covenant of grace, one people of God, all pointing to one Savior. Hebrews 11 reveals that Abraham was not merely looking for a piece of land. He was looking for a city whose designer and builder is God. He saw Christ's day from afar and was glad, as Jesus himself declared in John 8.
There has always been only one way, grace through faith in the promised Redeemer.
That Redeemer has now come, and his name is Jesus.
Reflection Questions:
Practical Application:
Read through Hebrews 11 in its entirety today. As you read each figure of faith, ask yourself what specific act of trust they demonstrated and what that act cost them. Let their examples stir your own faith to action.
