-The Wavering Heart and the Open Invitation
Reading: Romans 10:9-13
Nicodemus stepped forward and offered a weak defense of Jesus based on due process, not conviction. He was not yet fully convinced. He had been near Jesus before, had spoken with him, had heard the words, and still he wavered. Yet Scripture tells us he eventually came, bringing burial spices worth a fortune, publicly honoring the one he had once visited only under the cover of night. The near-converted soul is a sobering picture. You can be impressed by Jesus, moved by his words, even willing to defend him in conversation, and still walk away unchanged. The feast is over. The invitation remains open. Come and drink, not someday, but now.
Reflection: Is there any part of your heart that is still wavering, still admiring Jesus from a careful distance rather than fully surrendering to him? What is holding you back?
Practical Application: If you have never called on the name of the Lord for salvation, today is the day. If you have, identify one person in your life who is in a place of near-conversion and commit to praying for them by name every day this week, asking God to move them from admiration to genuine faith.
