-The Danger of Religion Without Regeneration
Reading: Matthew 23:25-28
The Pharisees knew the Scriptures better than anyone in the room. They had memorized the law and the prophets. They had the credentials, the titles, and the education. And they completely missed the one to whom all of it pointed. Religion without regeneration produces contempt, pride, and a hardening of the heart. It is entirely possible to attend church faithfully, to know doctrine accurately, to be morally upright by outward standards, and still miss Jesus Christ entirely. The Pharisees did not lack information. They lacked transformation. The question is never how much you know about Christ. It is whether you know him.
Reflection: Are there areas of your faith that have become more about performance or appearance than genuine relationship with Christ? Where might religious pride be quietly taking root?
Practical Application: Spend time today in honest self-examination. Ask God to reveal any area where you are relying on religious effort rather than resting in Christ, and confess it plainly to him.
