-Righteous Judgment Requires a Willing Heart
Reading: 1 Samuel 16:6-7
God reminded Samuel that man looks at outward appearances but God looks at the heart. Jesus commanded his listeners to stop judging by surface appearances and to judge with righteous judgment.
This applies to how we evaluate teachers, how we read Scripture, and most urgently, how we examine ourselves. Surface-level Christianity is comfortable precisely because it demands nothing beneath the exterior.
Righteous judgment is costly because it requires honesty, humility, and a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths about what is actually happening in our own souls.
Reflection: Are you satisfied with the surface of your spiritual life, or are you willing to let God examine what lies beneath?
Practical Application: Spend time in honest self-examination today, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal anything in your heart that contradicts what your outward life presents to others.
