-Asking the Right Questions
Reading: Proverbs 2:1-11; Acts 17:10-12
The crowd in John 7 asked the wrong question. Rather than asking whether Jesus' teaching was true, they asked how he had become learned without formal education. This is a deeply human instinct: to evaluate the messenger rather than wrestle with the message.
The Bereans in Acts 17 model the better way, receiving the word eagerly and then searching the Scriptures daily to see whether what they heard was true.
The right question is never who said this, but does this align with what God has revealed. Credentials do not sanctify a teaching, and their absence does not disqualify one.
Reflection: When you hear preaching or read Christian content, what is your first instinct: to evaluate the source or to examine the substance?
Application: The next time you engage with a sermon or Christian book, write down one claim being made and look it up in Scripture yourself to test whether it holds.
