-The Battle of the Will

Reading: Romans 7:15-25; James 1:22-25

Jesus declared in John 7:17 that the one who is willing to do God's will shall know whether the teaching is from God. This reveals something sobering: the primary barrier to spiritual understanding is not intellectual, it is moral.

We do not struggle to grasp forgiveness because we cannot define it.
We struggle because we do not want to extend it. We do not stumble over God's commands because they are unclear.

We stumble because our wills are bent toward self. The path to clarity in Scripture runs straight through surrender.

Obedience is not the result of understanding alone; it is the doorway to it.

Reflection: Where in your life are you withholding obedience not because God's word is unclear, but because your will is resistant?

Application: Identify one specific area where you know what God requires but have delayed obeying. Take one concrete step of obedience in that area today.
