-The World's Hatred and Christ's Holiness
Reading: John 7:7; John 15:18-25; 1 John 3:13
"The world hates me because I testify that its deeds are evil."
Light exposes darkness.
Jesus' very presence revealed humanity's corruption, and rather than repent, the world chose to murder the messenger.
When the church faithfully proclaims truth and calls sin what it is, expect hostility.
The world was comfortable with Jesus' brothers because they belonged to the world, spoke its language, pursued its ambitions.
But those who follow Christ will face the same hatred He faced.
The gospel is offensive because it confronts us as sinners needing rescue.
Don't dilute truth to gain approval.
Blessed are you when people hate you for His name's sake.
Reflection Question: Am I more concerned with being liked or being faithful to speak truth?
