The Work That God Requires
Reading: John 6:28-29; Ephesians 2:8-10
When asked what work God requires, Jesus gives a surprising answer: believe in Him whom God has sent. This isn't about earning salvation through religious performance or checking spiritual boxes.
Faith itself is not a work that merits grace—it's the empty hand that receives grace. Like a beggar extending his hand for bread, we contribute nothing but our need.
The extending of the hand doesn't purchase the bread; it simply receives it.
This truth demolishes our self-righteous attempts to earn God's favor.
Today, stop striving and start receiving. Let go of your spiritual checklist and simply trust in Christ's finished work on your behalf.
