-Religion vs. Relationship
Reading: Mark 7:1-13
Reading: Mark 7:1-13
The religious leaders were more outraged about mat-carrying than amazed by miracle-working. They cared more about their oral traditions than about 38 years of suffering ending instantly.
Legalism cannot celebrate liberating grace. It's too busy keeping score.
Are you a rule-keeper who misses miracles?
Do you rejoice when the addict gets free, or do you skeptically wait to see if it lasts? When the prodigal returns, do you celebrate like the father or grumble like the older brother?
Jesus didn't come to enforce religious regulations; He came to give abundant life.
The Pharisees honored their rulebook more than the Miracle-Worker.
Don't let man-made standards blind you to God's grace in action—in others or yourself.
Reflection:
Are you more concerned with appearances or with authentic transformation?
Where might you be prioritizing rules over relationship?
